Start the season of giving with original art by DAVA youth and local artists. DAVA is a wonderful destination for handmade holiday gifts! Proceeds from this exhibition support free year-round art programs for kids in our northern Aurora community. DAVA is located at 1405 Florence Street, one block south of East Colfax Avenue in the Aurora Cultural Arts District. This exhibition opens with a festive reception and art sale from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, December 5th, 2019.

Students in all DAVA programs are creating unique artworks to share with you. In November, DAVA is excited to be partnering with Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus School and its connections to modern design in Colorado. DAVA students are creating a wide range of art inspired by the tools, techniques, shapes and colors used by Bauhaus artists. These artworks include ceramic dishes, jewelry, loom weavings, prints, photographs and more. After display at the Kirkland Museum, this work will be for sale at DAVA during Unity.

DAVA students also created a collection of drawings of candies during a special colored pencil workshop with guest artist Kate Woodliff O’Donnell and drawing students from the Community College of Aurora (CCA). Selected works by DAVA and CCA students will be shown along with original drawings by Kate Woodliff O’Donnell.

Guest artists Matthew Jorgensen and Liz Quan add to the exhibition with their series of contemporary ceramic objects. Matthew Jorgensen’s containers are functional and modern with unique glazes, while Liz Quan’s porcelain jewelry and multifaceted cups and bowls are intimate and delicate. Come find creative gifts for everyone on your list!

The exhibition is free and open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday and by appointment. For more information, please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 303-367-5886.
