Wonders: Holiday Show and Sale
Downtown Aurora Visual Arts
December 6, 2018. - January 16, 2019
- Opening reception: Thursday, December 6th from 4 pm to 7 pm
Start the season of giving with original art by DAVA youth and local artists. DAVA is a wonderful destination for handmade holiday gifts! Proceeds from this exhibit support year round art programs for urban youth. DAVA is located at 1405 Florence Street, one block south of East Colfax Avenue in the Aurora Cultural Arts District.
Students in all DAVA programs are working together to create one-of-a-kind artworks to share with you. They experimented with a wide range of materials and techniques to create unique ceramic tea sets, bowls, and platters. They also made mosaic trivets, mini clay monsters, bird houses and desk accessories. A series of science inspired gel mono prints will also be included.
Guest artists Virginia Diaz Saiki, Adrienne DeLoe, and Griffin Callahan add new perspectives to the exhibit. Virginia Diaz Saiki will present whimsical prints of plants and gentle monsters, along with a special collection of K-So jewelry. Adrienne DeLoe’s works connect to science in a beautiful way, from her botanical jewelry and seed pods, to her exotic insect specimens preserved in paintings. Griffin Callahan’s series of wheel-thrown coffee mugs and water jugs with incredible glazes round out the show. Find creative gifts for everyone on your list!
